Take a look at what we do to make and keep Cleveleys amazing! Cleveleys Town Centre Group is the umbrella organisation which looks after the town. Including Christmas Lights, Cleveleys In Bloom and the events programme. It’s all wrapped up into what we all know as Care for Cleveleys.
Care for Cleveleys
This team of volunteers has been established for some years and make a big difference to the look of the town! From cleaning, litter picking and weeding, to crochet bollard toppers – they’ll have a go at anything to improve the public realm. Have a look at the Facebook group to find out what’s happening right now.
All the practical volunteering comes under the umbrella of Care for Cleveleys. And a lot of these tasks contribute towards the towns Cleveleys In Bloom entry. In Bloom is a national initiative run by the RHS and we’re proud to be back again this year.
All of these improvements take a lot of paying for – which means a lot of fundraising. We’re not proud – we’ll take any kind of help! Money comes from grants, donations, crowd funding, raffles and business fundraising. It’s hard won and always carefully spent.
A lot of people move here for a new life by the sea. Volunteering is a great way of improving mental health, making friends and networks and getting exercise. It’s a really friendly and welcoming group and there’s a space for everyone. Dates for get togethers are on the homepage.
How people use town centres is changing – they’re becoming places for entertainment, to meet people and have a good time. The Town Centre Group is drawing people to the town through a new programme of events and entertainment across the year.
It’s a miserable time of year when the days are cold, wet and short. The Town Centre Group is brightening up those dreary months with events and community lighting initiatives from October to February. In December everything gets festive with the new plans for new Christmas lights.
What We Do – Ongoing
Operate a community shop for fundraising, activities and events – the hub at the heart of the town.
Hold a regular monthly Meet Up for volunteers to get together, discuss, plot and plan what the group is doing next
Hold a regular monthly community Clean Up to look after the town centre as a group
Plus loads of ad-hoc volunteering between organised clean ups!
Two volunteers clean the clock shelter each week to keep it a welcoming and pleasant space for users
Look after 20 town centre planters, the clock garden and the long flower bed at Rough Lea Road
We’re always fundraising and looking out for things to recover and reuse!
Make crochet installations and bunting to brighten up the town!
Weed, sweep, paint, litter pick and clean to keep Cleveleys as clean and welcoming as we can
Fundraise for, organise and install Christmas lights
Endlessly share what’s happening through the Care for Cleveleys Facebook Group, creating civic pride for our lovely town
Organise large and small events for residents and visitors
Report faults and problems that we can’t deal with through the Love Clean Streets app
