Care for Cleveleys Recruitment Event

Well, what can we say, 2025 has been the most amazing year yet! Events, projects, new friends and of course a new home – we’ve really done it all. Now, a New Year beckons, and it’s time for the 2026 Care for Cleveleys Recruitment Event!

Care for Cleveleys Recruitment Event

This is now a tradition, it’s the fourth time that Care for Cleveleys has hosted this event at the very start of a new year. It’s a great way to dust off the tinsel and mince pies and welcome in a bright and shiny new twelve months in our amazing town.

This is a meet-up for everyone – new and old members, other organisations and businesses. In fact anyone who has an interest in the town is invited to come along. Find out what’s in store for 2025 and how you can get involved.

New Volunteers Welcome

Everyone has something that they can bring to the group. It doesn’t matter how young or old you are, whether you’re as fit as a fiddle or creaking like a gate. All you need is a cheerful disposition and a desire to belong! Here’s some idea of what we need people to do:

  • Garden, DIY, woodwork, weed, paint, clean and scrub
  • Crochet, knit, sew and craft
  • Write – from performance scripts to social media
  • Bake cakes – for coffee mornings, events and cake stalls
  • Make and serve tea, look after people and be welcoming hosts
  • Enjoy acting the fool – and dressing up at events!
  • Run a raffle and specialise in fundraising
  • excel at admin and organisation
  • enjoy making crafts and being creative – we sell things in the shop
  • Love litterpicking
  • want to help with producing the Seaside Emporium range of products
  • …and so much more!

Come Along!

Does this sound like the kind of thing you would enjoy? Have a look through the Care for Cleveleys Facebook Group and get a feel for what the group’s like and whether it’s for you. It’s an amazing bunch of folks – a big, dysfunctional, extended family! It’s also ideal for people who might already have demands on their time. We’ve all got lives of some kind, and fit around each other to fill in the gaps. There’s no sense of obligation for most activities, and you won’t get sucked in unless you want to be!

What to Expect

First of all we’re a very informal bunch! Expect a lot of laughing, chatter and good humour and quickly joining in. Monthly meet-ups are now held at the Care for Cleveleys Shop, accompanied by (of course) a brew. We try to sit so that we can all talk to each other (rather than in rows) with everyone included.

Jane Littlewood will set the meeting off, welcoming everyone with a quick recap of how Care for Cleveleys came to be, how it’s run and what it is that we do – filling in the gaps for anyone who didn’t know!

Then we’ll have a look at the plans for 2026 and what we’ll be getting up to next… We have an idea of where the group is going but Care for Cleveleys is flexible – if we see an opportunity we grab it!

And there’s plenty of opportunity for you to have your say. How do you think we should run events, activities. What would you like to see the group doing in future? We have to be logical in how we approach things and plan work according to the resources we’ve got. But where possible we’ll try to accommodate the wishes of volunteers – your views are all important.

Can’t Make it to the Meeting?

Our annual Recruitment Event is a good way to start the year and get everyone together at once. But there’s always new people joining in, all through the year so if you can’t make it to the meeting don’t worry.

Pop in to the Shop during the day between 10am and 4pm for a chat and a look around. Or just come along to any of our public events, town centre clean-ups, or meetings at the Top Club. (Dates on the home-page). You’ll be made very welcome – and after a couple of times you’ll feel like part of the furniture!

Many of the same volunteers also take part in the Rossall Beach Group. For 2025 the events are worked so they follow on alternate weeks, ie:

  • First week – beach clean (Monday morning)
  • Second week – C4C town centre clean
  • Third week – brew and meet (but these are bi-monthly in 2025)
  • Fourth week – C4C meet up
