Exciting Events Programme to Unfold in Cleveleys!

Have you been to Cleveleys town centre this year? You must have noticed just how much work the Care for Cleveleys volunteers have been putting into the town. And now, with thanks to an amazing new £60k grant, an exciting events programme is about to begin.

Wyre Council was awarded £3.9 million after their investment plans for the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) were approved by Government. Cleveleys Town Centre Group successfully bid for the £60k grant from this pot of money.

The New Exciting Events Programme

The first of these events takes place at August Bank Holiday Weekend. It’s a Family Fun Day at Jubilee Gardens – with a creative twist!

The amazing street artist Seca One – aka Christian Fenn – is painting a huge Sea Swallow themed mural. You’ll see it appear on the blue fence around the Beach Management works compound in the gardens. Come along and enjoy an afternoon in the park as he finishes the wall. Find out about the Town Centre Group and Care for Cleveleys, and how you might get involved. There’s free face painting and you can meet the Flower Pot People. You can even have a go at spray painting your own butterfly to raise money for Care for Cleveleys.

Jane Littlewood is Chair of the TCG. She says “This grant fund is an amazing opportunity and represents a step-change for the town. It will enable a range of family events for all ages. The Care for Cleveleys volunteers have made so many improvements already and these events will just encourage more people to come here and enjoy everything the town has to offer.”

Making Cleveleys Amazing

Cleveleys Town Centre Group (TCG) is a relatively new amalgamation of the original but dormant Cleveleys Association of Trade and Commerce and Care for Cleveleys. A properly constituted group and part of the Cleveleys Together Town Centre Board, it’s busy with a wide range of projects to enhance user-experience in the town.

Daniel Thornton is also a Director of the TCG . He added “Everything that the Town Centre Group does is for the benefit of the town. As a jeweller can I say that it’s a gem of a place! So we want to polish it and make it the best version of itself. We’re putting people at the heart of the town – and these events will being them into it, literally.”

Jane added “It’s amazing that we’ve been able to secure this grant, especially after all the hard work so far. We’re looking forward to sharing our exciting programme of events and activities over the next 18 months.

Future Events

Events this year include Dancing on the Prom and in October the start of a new ‘Winterval’ festival. An Armistice Day event in November and the switch on of the Christmas Lights. All of it designed to celebrate the fabulous assets of the town and its friendly community of residents and volunteers. It will build pride of place, drive economic development and increase the quality of life for people in Cleveleys.
